After reading all the reviews, this looked like THE best Italian food in town. I guess my view of Italian food differs hugely from my fellow reviewers; the service was cordial and friendly - we ordered a bottle of wine which had been well cared for in their cellar and was pretty good. I ordered the mussel appetizer while my colleague ordered the escargot. The mussels when delivered were a little cool (must have sat around for a while) but tasty and the escargot were similarly cool, but lacked much flavor. Both of our main courses were, however, poor. My colleague ordered the fresh fettuccine with an alfredo sauce and shrimp; when it was served we were surprised to see the pasta was awash with sauce – normally in Italian food the pasta is well sauced but not drowned. I had ordered the veal saltimbocca which literally means “jump in your mouth” – not these guys. Saltimbocca is normally prepared with the veal rolled up – this was served flat, more as a veal pizza; like my colleagues dish this was drowned in sauce. The sauce was heavy on the wine but light on the garlic, the result was quite bland. If lots of hearty food is your desire, then Sabatino’s is your place; if you are seeking authentic Italian food, then look elsewhere.
